29 Little LaTrobe St, Melbourne
Date visited: 31st January 2014
A Little Bird Told Me is a newish small specialty cafe near RMIT. Seven Seeds coffee and sweets from Matt Forbes and Lune Croissanterie = must try.
MerlinFan and I came for a light breakfast. Now, I don't believe we were particularly dimwitted (or twins - 2 people 1 brain WTF) but for some reason, we couldn't find the cafe. It blame it all on Google maps which made it look as if it was located at the corner of Little Latrobe and Elizabeth Street. What sorcery is this - it felt like 12 Grimmauld Place in Harry Potter or something. And I swear there was another shop with a big 29 on the outside too! Walked around that end of Little Latrobe Street twice until we checked A Little Bird's tumblr and realised it was opposite the art supply store.
We ordered our coffees and sweets. I was so sad there were no doughnuts on offer. I wanted one :( But there were lamingtons, danishes, brownies, carrot cake to name a few.
Ice Coffee
MerlinFan's ice coffee. Milky and velvety smooth - she liked the ice cream with speckles of vanilla.
Cappucino
Smooth and beany.
Chocolate, Cherry & Pistachio Brownie
MerlinFan said it was a really good brownie. The outside was crisp and the decadent dark chocolate inside moist and chewy.
Very fragrant spiced gingerbread halves sandwiched with a rich toffee butter cream. Sweet and rich. Gingerbread fanatics will be in for a treat.
A nice hole in the wall spot for coffee and treats.
Update:
Lune croissants are no longer stocked at A Little Bird. The confusion around this issue has been clarified by blogger Vivian Lee, who visited in Dec 2013 and also received a nice message from Lune recently about where she currently stocks them. You can visit her post here.

I went to try there and couldn't find it either!!!! That's the first thing I thought when I saw the title of this blog post hahah
ReplyDeleteThank you! Glad to know we weren't the only ones who couldn't find it!!!
ReplyDeleteDo you watch MKR (My Kitchen rules) where they have the two twins? I hope that they can do Melbourne proud
ReplyDeleteLove MKR. Like Masterchef but with bitchy squabbling >=P
DeleteAbusive comments by anonymous coward and retaliatory replies by my outspoken readers (and myself >:D) deleted. Considered leaving them here for amusement factor but then I thought, no innocent reader needs to stumble upon irrelevant comments which evolved from argument about fact to petty juvenile name slinging. LOL.
ReplyDeleteThank you @Gabriel Mills, Cheng, Amber Jackson and MerlinFan for your highly amusing and supportive comments =)
P.S. Rude comments and abuse to my readers are not tolerated and will be deleted. So don't even bother.
